Chlor-Alkali (Chlorine, Caustic Soda/Potash, Hydrogen) is a critical chemistry for Europe as it has many important uses.
However, for safety reasons, Chlorine itself cannot be readily transported over long distances or stored in large amounts, meaning local Chlor-Alkali production is vital.
Chlorine is most often produced together with Caustic Soda/ Caustic Potash and Hydrogen from salt, water and electricity as part of an interconnected European Chlor-Alkali system.
These chemicals are always made together in a fixed ratio (the same set amount). This means any impact on the amount of one can impact the availability of the others.
Balancing this system is critical for the future and resilience of Europe.
